Operations & Control Director

Purpose and Objective of Position

The role of the Operations & Control Director is to develop and execute division financial, operations and control strategy, leading to the achievement of operating income and cash flow targets for the Division. The O&C Director is a key advisor to the Managing Director, Macau, and provides financial and operational leadership to the stores management team.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead Financial Planning & Strategy
  • Work with MD and VP Ops and Control to develop, manage and execute tactics in achieving financial strategies for the division
  • Act as key advisor and confidant of the Managing Director, Macau
  • Develop and improve division and store financial KPI tracking and monitoring
  • Coordinate the monthly financial close with the Global Finance and Corporate Reporting teams, monitor the variances to budgets/forecasts and to provide action plan to ensure division financial goals are achieved
  • Participate in all contract bids and negotiations and seeks appropriate involvement of legal department
  • Maintain relationships with local banks, airport authorities, landlords, joint venture partners, and other business partners
  • Assist the Managing Director in analysing new business opportunities

Budgeting, Forecasting and Strategic Plan

  • Work closely with O&C Director, HK on the preparation of the Macau's Budget, Forecasting and Strategic Plan, with the aim to improve forecast accuracy using robust data source and trends
  • Ensure timely and accurate reports which provide relevant information to the key stakeholders and communication, education, and management of financial targets with division stores and functional departments
  • Work with O&C Director, HK to develop and expand on store analysis to predict business trends and provide financial insights to help the division make decisions at senior level

Store Compliance and Controls

  • To ensure that financial practices and store SOPs are sound and in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Work closely with Corporate internal control and compliance teams to establish and maintain appropriate internal controls to safeguard company's assets, inventory and cash
  • To oversee inventory control and review stock shrinkage and find ways to improve inventory ordering and replenishment process
  • Ensure workplace is safe, with standards set for health and safety of premises and behaviors of employees
  • Lead internal and external audit activities to detect control weaknesses

Store Profitability and Support Services

  • Work closely with MD and Store GMs on actions to improve conversion, penetration and average spend per ticket
  • Analyse how store led promotions have an impact on traffic, conversion and GM% versus merchandising led promotions
  • implementation of best practices and continuous process improvement
  • Consistent execution and maintenance of all facilities to align delivery of exceptional customer experience
  • Participate in the development and leadership of the AGMs Operations and their teams for process improvement and compliance

Educational Requirements

  • College or University Degree in Business or Finance required, MBA preferred

Work Experience

  • >10 years of progressive financial & operating experience

Licenses / Certifications

  • Critical knowledge & skills including tools, software applications, language, etc. Retail Industry, inventory management experience a plus
