The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) is currently looking to fill the following vacancy in the Institute of Science and Environment (ISE):

Assistant or Associate Professor (Ref. No.: ISE-AP70)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Perform academic duties, including but not limited to, teaching, supervising, developing academic programmes and teaching plans;
2. Prepare course syllabus, lecturing, coursework assessment, undergraduate and graduate student supervision;
3. Prepare research proposals, coordinate externally funded research proposals, supervise and execute experiments, present results in academic meetings, publish in academic journals and supervise postgraduate work;
4. Participate in the Scientific and Pedagogical Council and other faculty meetings, participate in University’s committees and taskforces, assist with student recruitment, prepare new programme proposals and programme revisions/accreditation, develop and revise student and programme handbooks, and elaborate annual performance reports;
5. Prepare and participate in open days, science exhibitions, short courses, workshops, and field trips.

Requirements:
1. PhD in Environmental, Biological, Biotechnology, Marine or Earth Sciences;
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as Assistant Professor for Associate level;
3. Teaching experience in areas related to the position and in higher education will be valued;
4. Solid research publication track record;
5. Experience in the supervision of graduate students and coordination of research projects will be valued;
6. Experience in the preparation of new programmes and programme review will be valued;
7. English proficiency is mandatory;
8. Proficiency in Chinese will be valued;
9. Macao ID card holder preferable.

The taxable monthly remuneration starts from MOP 37,833.00 (approx. EUR 4,390.00) for the position of Assistant Professor and MOP 47,833.00 (approx. EUR 5,550.00) for the position of Associate Professor, with level within rank to be determined according to academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The maximum income tax rate in Macau is 12% but it is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
