Head of GPS, Macau

About the Role:
Global Payments Solutions (GPS) is an integral part of our client proposition and employs our global network to capture market share and deliver growth. The Head of GPS, Macau, is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving the growth and strategic direction of HSBC's Global Payments Solutions function in Macau. This role involves executing the global GPS strategy locally, commercialising liquidity and cash management solutions, and positioning HSBC as the leading provider in the market. The role reports to the CEO of HSBC Macau and functionally to the Head of Greater China, GPS.

Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership and Business Development:

  • Drive business growth and deliver revenue and PBT to achieve Financial Resource Planning targets.
  • Lead the execution of the GPS global strategy in Macau, ensuring growth in operating balances, fees, optimising return, and managing costs to achieve and exceed business outcomes and key results.
  • Develop and communicate a clear vision for GPS that aligns with HSBC's overall vision, values, and goals.
  • Deliver a comprehensive and competitive suite of product solution offering to track against key competitors in the industry.
  • Build the franchise value and reputation of GPS in Macau and across the region, to position HSBC as the top provider of global payments and liquidity services in Macau.
Customer and Stakeholder Management:
  • Strive for a world-class customer experience by cultivating a consistent relationship management culture to deepen customer relationships.
  • Collaborate with banking coverage and other product groups to deliver best-in-class solutions to customers.
  • Participate in and contribute to local entity and regional GPS governance committees to represent a voice of GPS and decision-making.
Operational Excellence and Control:
  • Lead the development and execution of a high-quality client-centric operating culture.
  • Undertake front-to-back operations and risk accountability of the payments business by collaborating with internal stakeholders in the Operations and Technology functions.
  • Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment, continually assess operational risks and implement mitigation measures to protect the bank and its customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulatory requirements, fostering a compliance culture.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead, develop, and motivate the team via a high-performance team culture.
  • Create a clear succession and development plan process to attract, identify and develop talent.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • Broad corporate and institutional banking customer relationship management experience, with in-depth knowledge of the GPS business and how it contributes to the HSBC overall business.
  • Highly developed skills in managing stakeholders across the organisation and a wide range of projects.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate managers and staff, employing appropriate management styles.
  • Proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English is preferred.
