Our client is a general insurance company, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Claims Manager to join their team.
Responsibilities:
Oversee end-to-end claims administration, ensuring compliance with policies and legal frameworks
Evaluate policy / legal liability and quantum for complex claims and litigation cases
Manage litigation processes, including witness / lawyer consultations and court appearances (Public Prosecutions Office, conciliation hearings, trials)
Negotiate settlements (both pre-litigation and out-of-court) with third-party claimants or legal representatives
Direct and coordinate external service providers (e.g., garages, motor surveyors, loss adjusters, medical experts, legal counsel) on investigation strategies
Monitor vendor performance, ensuring adherence to service standards and cost-effectiveness
Approve claims payments within delegated authority limits
Analyze claims trends, reserves, and statistics; report findings to general management
Identify and escalate potential fraudulent cases or adverse client experiences
Develop and implement service standards with KPIs to measure departmental performance
Regularly review claim file reserves per Claims Handbook guidelines
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (Law, Business, or related field); ACII, ANZIIF (Snr Assoc), or legal qualifications preferred
8-10 years in insurance claims handling, with expertise in bodily injury litigation
In-depth knowledge of insurance contracts, reinsurance structures, and claims adjudication
Proficiency in claims reserving and risk assessment
Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize workloads and meet strict deadlines
Customer-centric mindset with a focus on service excellence
