Assistant Project Manager - Construction Management

Position Summary
Reporting to the Project Manager, the incumbent will assist in coordinating the main contractor and various trade contractors, commenting shop drawings, monitoring programs and progress, coordinating inspections and handover to the operator (Ops) and relevant business units.

Primary Responsibility

  • Assist in monitoring and supervising the main contractor and various trade contractors in completing the works with satisfactory workmanship and within the planned schedule
  • Monitor and supervise the subordinates in completing their assignment within schedule
  • Review the contractors' programs and monitor the daily progress
  • Assist in monitoring and supervising consultants' resident team in implementation of quality control plan and carry out regular check on the workmanship of the contractors
  • Review and comment on contractors' submissions including shop drawings, program, material submissions, method statements and progress report
  • Communicate closely with the design team on design issues which may impair the progress or quality of works
  • Monitor the contractors' implementation of safety plans
  • Participate/ coordinate the handover process to Operations for Hotel and relevant areas
  • Update the room handover schedule with actual dates
  • Prepare, record and upload handover record form of each area
  • Arrange and invite Ops for inspections
  • Co-ordinate with contractors for the submission of Permit to Work (PTW ) for completing defects in premises after early access by Ops
  • Prepare handover documents for each package (e.g. fit-out, MEP, FF&E, procurement items), such as warranties, certificates, O&M manual etc.
  • Meetings with L&I and FM to review the status of handover, documentation received etc.
  • Prepare for MGTO inspections

Requirements
  • High Diploma/Degree holder in Building Construction/ Project Management
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years' experience in building construction
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience as assistant construction manager in contractor or developer
  • Experience in managing major fitting out works for hotels, restaurants or casinos
  • The candidate must be fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
  • The candidate must demonstrate good communication and leadership skills
